As the results of the reviews, 14 proposals had been accepted for the Special Session at the 2018 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robot and Systems (IROS2018).
Each organizer collects at least 8 papers for each Special Session. They will be reviewed similar to the regular papers and only the accepted ones will be published in the IROS2018 Proceedings. The organizer will be invited to be the Chair of the Special Session and responsible for.
If the number of accepted papers is bigger than 8, papers will be allocated in two sessions and if necessary will be completed with regular papers of similar topic. Just in case that the number of accepted papers is less than 8, the papers will be reassigned to the other regular sessions according to the topic.

Social Events
Apart from the technical program, participants are also cordially invited to attend various social events, such as the Welcome Reception, that will take place in the Crystal Ballroom of Madrid´s Town Hall, the Conference Banquet, at the Wizink Centre in downtown (Madrid indoor sporting arena), and the Farewell Party, in the Madrid Convention Centre (venue). There will also be various luncheons during the conference.

IROS 2018 will welcome its participants with a one-hour reception in the beautiful glass gallery of the Town Hall, at the heart of the city. The standing reception will serve a variety of food choices as well as beverages to fully registered IROS delegates.
Entrance will be at 19:30h and is strictly limited to maximum capacity of the gallery. The admission is limited by order of registration. Do not forget your accreditation and your badge! Without it, entrance is not permitted.

Awards Luncheon

A pic-nic luncheon will be offered, first come first served, followed by a ceremony, where the main awards, together with competitions awards will be announced. This year, we count with the IEEE president, who will hand out the IEEE Technical Field Award in Robotics and Automation, and the IEEE/RAS George Saridis Leadership Award in Robotics and Automation. Coffees will be offered at the end of the ceremony.

Robotic Online Short Film Festival Awards Ceremony

ROS Film Festival is the first international festival of science fiction short films starring robots. The Ceremony will be conducted by the magician Miguel Ángel Gea, also known for his incursions into neuroscience. Come to enjoy the winning short films and other live shows.
In addition, and as an effort to get you to know and enjoy the vibrant city of Madrid, during the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to socialize with old and new colleagues and friends at one of a variety of unique Madrid events. IROS2018 is happy to announce that, for each Conference-registered person, there will be one free event you can choose from the list. Availability will be limited to the capacity of each event, so remember to sign up before September 22 (23.59 hours, Spanish time) in order not to miss your favorite event for free.
